Washington DC Teacher Careers

While it is the heart of a metro area in excess of 6 million in population, Washington DC has one tenth of that population with a census of just over 600,000. The District has always been a stepchild of the United States government; created by it but not part of it. District political and budget issues are inevitably tangled with federal financial support but the city has little in the way of effective federal representation. The school district has struggled with a large low income population and high dropout rates, although it has responded positively to recent dynamic leadership from an excellent superintendent.
