Missouri Teacher Careers
Missouri has an assortment of school districts that ranges from affluent suburbs to healthy Midwest cities to at least one district that has history of administrative difficulties. In 2007 the St. Louis Public School District was decertified by the Missouri Board of Education and administration of the program was taken over by a new executive and a temporary oversight board. The Kansas City, Missouri School District has been engaged in an organized "turnaround" process designed to improve education for its 17,500 students. The loss of student population has led to some school closures there, a process that has involved extensive civic participation.
