Maryland Teacher Careers

Maryland has a population of 5.7 million, divided among twenty eight counties, most of which have county-wide school districts. The City of Baltimore and the County of Baltimore each has a school district. In recent years the Maryland State Department of Education has undertaken a curriculum reform effort targeted at each of four subject areas: math, English, social studies, and science. This effort has been characterized as a curricular reform initiative that has involved looking at states with successful curriculum mandates and soliciting input from hundreds of Maryland educators.
