Florida Teacher Careers

Florida has three of the ten largest school districts in the United States: the Miami-Dade School District, Broward County School District in and around Fort Lauderdale, and the Orange County School District in the Orlando area. Despite the popular image of the state as a retirement haven, there are 2.6 million students attending over 3,800 schools. There are about 180,000 Florida teachers. New teachers who graduate from Florida teacher prep programs or who migrate to the state may opt for a large school system with multiple teaching environments or for one of the smaller districts that serve the towns and cities of the Panhandle or along one of the coasts.
